1887: Founded by Ebenezer North
Northern Oil is one of the most respected and longest running fuel oil distributors in the Nottinghamshire region. The company was first established by Ebenezer North in 1887. Originally, the business sold paraffin for oil lamps and heating purposes.
1937: Purchased by the Birkin family
In 1937 the Birkin family purchased Northern Oil and the company has stayed with them ever since. We are just as passionate about providing quality service, reliable products and amazing value for money as our founder was over 130 years ago.
1960: A new alliance forms
In 1960, Northern Oil formed a new alliance with the Regent Oil Company, who later became the petroleum giant Texaco. This relationship has endured for over 50 years with Northern Oil still being the premier authorised Texaco oils distributor in the area.
